Wola Asase, Deputy Director & Head of Syndications

Wola Asase is a seasoned finance executive with over two decades of leadership in global syndications, structured finance, and capital mobilization across emerging markets. He serves as Deputy Director & Head of Syndications at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), where he was recruited in 2017 to build the syndications franchise from the ground up and mobilizing over US$8.57 billion and forging partnerships with 110+ global financial institutions.

A recognized innovator in risk-transfer and capital-optimization solutions, Wola established AFC’s first Unfunded Risk Participation framework, executed its landmark US$1.03 billion Portfolio Insurance Securitization, and structured the Corporation’s first A/B Bond repack program. He also developed AFC’s Credit-Insured B Loan and Callable Capital Insurance programs.

Prior to AFC, he spent over a decade at the IFC/World Bank Group, spearheading its Africa syndications program and mobilizing over US$2.6 billion. He began his career in investment banking at UBS New York and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and executive leadership certificate from Harvard Business School.
