Walter da Cruz Pacheco is currently Chairman of Kassai Capital, an asset management company within the Gemcorp Group, where he leads the Kassai’s strategic direction and institutional positioning within the Angolan financial market.
He is widely recognised for his strong analytical capabilities and strategic vision, having held senior leadership roles across both the public and financial sectors. As Chairman of the Angola Debt and Securities Exchange (BODIVA), he played a pivotal role in the development of Angola’s capital markets, notably by leading the country’s first equity trading transaction on a regulated market. This milestone significantly strengthened market credibility and contributed to attracting both domestic and international investors.
In the public sector, he served as Director-General of the Public Debt Management Unit at the Ministry of Finance, a highly technical position with direct responsibility for the strategic management of sovereign debt and the sustainability of public finances.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from the University of the West of England and a Master’s degree in International Finance from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom, which he completed with distinction.
