Sjamsu Rahardja is a World Bank Group Resident Representative for Mauritius since 2024. He is responsible for coordinating IFC, World Bank, and MIGA program in Mauritius and leading the dialogue with authorities.
Prior to his posting in Mauritius, Sjamsu Rahardja was a Senior Economist for the World Bank based in Astana, Kazakhstan. There, he led analytical work on macro-fiscal and policy dialogue on reforms in public finance.
He joined the World Bank in 2006 as an economist for World Bank East Asia region where he worked on investment climate and international trade issues. Throughout his career, we worked on analytical and financing projects in several countries, including Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and Philippines.
Prior to joining the Bank, he was a visiting researcher at the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
He has a Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University and a Masters degree from Cornell University. He has a wife and two children.
