James Maduekeh is a Senior Vice President at Africa Finance Corporation, where he leads the Treasury Client Solutions (TCS) business. In this role, he is responsible for structuring and executing complex treasury, capital markets, and structured financing solutions that enable African sovereigns, central banks, and strategic corporates to access long-term, sustainable funding.James has over two decades of experience across global capital markets, treasury, and derivatives, spanning developed, emerging, and frontier markets. Under his leadership, AFC has executed over US$8 billion in financial market transactions, including Total Return Swaps, Cross-Currency Swaps, hedging and risk participation structures, and credit-enhanced financing solutions, positioning the Corporation as a leading solutions provider and a key mobiliser of private capital for Africa’s development. He works closely with global banks, insurers, and institutional investors to deliver bankable, distributable, and capital-efficient financing and hedging solutions, often incorporating credit enhancement, collateral optimisation, and innovative risk-sharing mechanisms.
Prior to joining AFC, he held senior roles in global markets and played a pioneering role in developing client hedging and derivatives solutions within the African financial markets ecosystem.
He holds an MEng (Bachelor’s and Master’s) in Chemical Engineering from University College London, an Executive MBA from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and has completed Executive Leadership studies at Harvard Business School. He also serves in non-executive and advisory board capacities with several African growth-stage companies.
